About the Photographer
I've always had pets around. Growing up in Michigan, we had cats and dogs as far back as I can remember, and I love the spirit they bring to a home. My dad was fond of Boxers, which had so much energy and presence that I loved playing with them, inside and out. So I know firsthand how our cats and dogs become an essential part of the family, and I like to treat them that way in my portraits.
I wish every dog and cat had a family of their own, and I'm so glad to be able to support Amy and Little Black Dog Rescue again with their efforts to do that. We bring a pop-up studio and set up a nice space with Earth Animal's support to create a fun pet portrait experience for this great cause. It's a lot of fun and we get some terrific shots of the pets you love.

Little Black Dog Rescue
LBD Rescue focuses on the rescue, care and placement of black dogs who are in danger of euthanasia due to their color, as well as other dogs who are in immediate need. LBD Rescue is funded by donations which are used solely for the care of our dogs.
According to pet shelter workers, ebony-colored cats and dogs suffer from the “Black Dog Syndrome”: they are often the last to be adopted and the first to be euthanized.
Amy Scarella, founder of LBD Rescue, has a passion for helping dogs who are thrown away. Amy has been rescuing with various local groups in Connecticut as well as Georgia, North Carolina and Puerto Rico. As a former school teacher and now self-employed, Amy relies on the generosity of animal-lovers to make rescuing, rehabilitating and placing each deserving soul in the best home imaginable. Little Black Dog Rescue is based in Fairfield County, Connecticut.
